The steel giant ArcelorMittal has acquired the medium-sized tool steel specialist KONTUR Werkzeugstahl from North Rhine-Westphalia. The buyers were advised by Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH (Berlin office), RellermeyerPartner advised the shareholders of KONTUR Werkzeugstahl GmbH on the sale of their company shares.

By agreement dated 30 October 2023, a company from the ArcelorMittal Group acquired 100% of the shares in KONTUR Werkzeugstahl GmbH, a specialist for high-performance tool steel from Nettetal, North Rhine-Westphalia, and thus integrated the company into the world’s largest group of companies in the steel production sector. The acquisition further strengthens ArcelorMittal’s position in the production and processing of high-performance steel.

The buyer was advised and represented by the M&A team of Luther (Berlin) led by Prof Dr Jörg Rodewald. The Berlin-based Luther team has many years of experience in corporate/M&A for ArcelorMittal. On the seller’s side, the former shareholders of KONTUR Werkzeugstahl GmbH were advised and represented by RellermeyerPartner from Düsseldorf, led by Dr Stefan Gröblinghoff, during the negotiations and implementation of the transaction. The commercial law firm has been specialising in advising medium-sized companies for many years. It can look back on many years of advising one of the sellers, which also resulted in the mandate to support the sale of the company that has now taken place.
